Free Poultry Health Course – British Hen Welfare Trust

The British Hen Welfare Trust’s mission is to improve pet hen health and increase knowledge about chickens. As a result, they have recently announced that they have teamed up with The University of Nottingham to offer a FREE six-week online poultry course, fronted by Kate Humble.

The Poultry Health course will be available via FutureLearn from May 16th, 2022. The course is beneficial to anyone with an interest in poultry. The free course has been produced by qualified poultry experts in collaboration with the British Hen Welfare Trust. This includes Founder and CEO Jane Howorth and Head of Rehoming and Welfare, Gaynor Davies.

Students on the course will be able to access online tutorials and videos of operations to understand more about the health and welfare of hens. The hen is an animal that is becoming increasingly popular as a pet in the UK. One million families in the UK now keep chickens. It is reported chickens are now five times more popular as pets than hamsters according to a popular newspaper.

Above all, here at Alphapet, the welfare of your pets including your poultry is paramount. Our walk-in chicken runs help to keep them secure. Moreover, check out our Beginner’s Guide to Keeping Chickens blog article for some basic advice on keeping hens.
